Sunset at Stagecoach Reservoir. Fall color study.

Recently toured Steamboat Springs with my client. As we were leaving the sun had just dropped low enough to shine through the base of the trees, leaving us speechless. It was such a dramatic display of gold & red we immediately pulled over so I could grab some value sketches which lead to this preliminary color study. It was in that moment that I realized just how much I love being an artist. Oils on panel.
