American Tree Sparrows is painted using acrylic paint on Yupo paper. I start with an abstract background, then add the definition to the foreground. When I first did the background, I found that it reminded me of a hole under a tree that I had found. I combined it with the sparrows that were hopping around on the ground as they seemed to belong together.
