Living in Canada, we get a lot of snow in the winter. It is such a breathtaking time of year that can be treacherous or absolutely serene. I wanted to express the serene beauty of a Canadian winter with one of the most beautiful trees in our climate, the Silver Birch. In the harshness of winter, species succumb to the elements or the circle of life through being hunted. The deer carcass reminds us how nature is not always kind, while till seeing the beauty that surrounds us. And some couple in love found their way into this forest to carve their initials in one of the trees. Love, life and death, all in a soft, white bliss of snow.
