Stately Lady

oil on birch plywood, painted after a visit by this and several other tall ships to my hometown of Digby, NS. I sketched this boat at the dock several times. When she sailed away from the dock we followed her out in our own boat and I was able to take the reference photo for this painting. She is such a large ship I purposefully only fit part of her within the frame. The resulting painting suggests more of her grandeur.
